Many people took part in the action - donors, volunteers, guests, journalists, Blood Service employees. Medical staff from the Russian Federal Micro-Biological Agency worked with donors. The participants of the action could donate blood at a unique site at a height of 337 meters and made stunning panoramic photographs of the capital. After donors had tea with biscuits at the famous restaurant “Sed'moye nebo”.
“The aim of the annual celebration of World Blood Donor Day on 14th of June, initiated by the World Health Organization is not only to thank all the participants of the donor movement, but also to draw attention to various aspects of the development of free donations. Bright, interesting and informative events are providing all over the world under the aegis of the World Health Organization, which emphasize that voluntary donation is the norm of a civilized society, an act of care, kindness and responsibility” - Elena Stefanyuk, Director of the National Health Care Foundation, Deputy Head of the Coordination Center for Blood Donation at the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.
The donor action on June 5, 2019 was organized by the following institutions: administration of the Ostankino TV tower, the National Foundation for Health Development, the Moscow Blood Donation Resource Center, the Coordination Center for Blood Donation under the Public Chamber of RF, the Public Relations and the youth policy of Moscow Committee, the donor movement at Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University. The event was held in the framework of the Moscow donor practice marathon “Dostuchat'sya do serdets”.
