On October 24, the opening ceremony of the Blood Service medical module, located in Penza on the territory of the regional blood clinical center, took place.

The ceremony was attended by the head of the Federal Biomedical Agency of Russia Vladimir Uyba and the governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev.

The staff of the regional clinical blood center has moved to a new module in September and has been working in modern conditions for the second month, but the ceremonial presentation of the medical building has just passed. To see how the institution’s activity was organized in the region, experts arrived from Moscow, Kazan, Samara, Vladimir, Novosibirsk, and Mordovia.

In his welcome speech, the head of the FMBA Russia Vladimir Uyba congratulated the Penza Region blood service on its 80th anniversary and drew attention to the work carried out by the Agency since the organization of the Blood Service activity in 2008.

“From the beginning of the program implementation to strengthen the donation, technical and information base of the blood service, it was attended by almost all blood service institutions in all the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and a number of structural units of large clinical centers of federal subordination. As a result, about 30 thousand units of high-tech medical equipment were delivered. Three modular buildings were brought into use for the blood service in Sochi, Ulyanovsk and Saratov. Now we attended the opening of the fourth module here in Penza” said Vladimir Uyba.

There are comfortable conditions for registration and donation in the new building, with an area of more than 2,000 m². The module’s production facilities equipped with modern equipment are designed to provide the region’s medical institutions with blood components, blood preparation, processing and storage.

“I would like to congratulate the Penza region with bringing into use such a wonderful medical facility. A high-tech medical center will allow attracting new donors and creating comfortable conditions for those who are used to the previous one” - Olga Makedonskaya, the head doctor of the Mordovian Republic blood transfusion station.
“With the new module, Penza medicine has reached a higher level of technology, in particular, it has become possible to prepare stem cells for the treatment of a number of oncological diseases” - Alexandra Nikishina the Regional Minister of Health.

More than 22,200 liters of whole donated blood, more than 8.3 thousand liters of frozen plasma, about 5.8 thousand liters of erythrocyte-containing medium, and about 17.5 thousand doses of platelets were collected from the Penza Regional Clinical Blood Center in 2018. The blood center supplies its products to 38 medical institutions of the Penza region.
