The project “School of the Young Donor” by Vladimir Pushchaev was presented at the All-Russian contest of the best voluntary initiatives “Volunteer of Russia 2019”. The aim of the project is to inform potential and future donors, dispel myths and fears of the donation procedure, and form an idea of the healthy lifestyle. The work of the School of the Young Donor was implemented in the city of Orenburg from September 1, 2018 to September 1, 2019. The target audience is high school pupils in Orenburg.
“I am a co-organizer of donor events held at the medical university and at the base of the blood transfusion station. As for our joint project with my girlfriend, we have had this idea for a long time. The point is to go to schools and look for potential donors. We have various kinds of training lectures on the topic “Donation is”, at which we talk with high school pupils, explain that donation is good and useful” - Vladimir Pushchaev.
According to Vladimir, donor events are ongoing, but the most important are only three. These are Donor Day at the university, which usually takes place in October, National Donor Day, which takes place on 20th of April, and World Donor Day on 14th of July.
“These actions are intended to inform people, to attract them to the ranks of donors. Personally, I have 10 donations of whole blood and 2 donations of plasma” - Vladimir.
During the donation procedure dizziness, drowsiness are possible, and quickly pass. But the awareness that you helped someone remains forever.
