The All-Russian Donor Week at the Blood Center of the FMBA of Russia was opened by Veronika Skvortsova, the head of the Federal Biomedical Agency on 8 June.
“The promotion of donorship is like the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, as all who come to donation receive a full medical check-up. Moreover, according to studies by the World Health Organization, regular blood donation helps to normalize blood pressure, blood glucose, hemostasis, and several other indicators. Safe blood is vital for both treatment and emergency medical care, used in emergency situations and helps save the lives of mothers and newborns. Therefore, the development of the Blood Service is a social direction that affects the interests of the whole society, and the main emphasis is on maintaining and stimulating staff donation” - Veronika Igorevna.
The heads of the following regions became donors: Republic of Altai, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Amur Region, Astrakhan Region, Bryansk Region, Kemerovo Region, Nizhny Novgorod Region, Omsk Region, Oryol Regions, Perm Territory, Altai Territory, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Trans-Baikal Territory, Stavropol Territory, Primorye Territory, Republic of Kalmykia and Sevastopol. The marathon was supported by famous athletes and artists. Among them: Alexander Povetkin, the champion of the XXVIII Olympic Games, multiple champion of Russia, world and European champion, Stanislav Duzhnikov, theater and film actor, Anna Semenovich, figure skater, actress, singer and broadcaster, Mitya Fomin, musician and actor, and Valdis Pelsh broadcaster and director, theater and film actor, musician.
Participants and finalists of the competition “Leaders of Russia” joined the donor marathon. They organized a two-day action on the basis of the Blood Center of the FMBA of Russia. Athletes of the Kyokushinkai association of Russia support the campaign #OstavaysyaDonorom for the second time. In April, they also donated blood at the facility.
“Today, during complex public health situation, it is important to remind people of the need for a donor despite external factors. A series of activities on the donor week provides an opportunity to take a proactive approach and replenish the blood bank of your city in order to maintain an irreducible supply of highly effective blood components. The preservation of donor activity in many cases is an integral part of the timely provision of medical care to patients with serious illnesses as well as emergency patients” - Sofiya Golosova, an Interim Director and Head Physician of the Blood Center of the FMBA of Russia.
E-mail alerts through the State Services portal were organized to attract participants to the event #OstavaysyaDonorom. Thanks to this, almost 9,000 people confirmed their desire to donate blood during the donor week. There are honorary donors of Russia among them.
“The slogan of Molodezhka ONF is - we are where the help is needed. It also suites to donorship. We were joined by famous actors, singers, musicians, broadcasters, as well as athletes - representatives of the Boxing Federation of Russia, the Kyokushinkai Association of Russia, the Judo Federation and many others. Together with us, blood was donated by heads of subjects and volunteers of headquarters #mivmeste. Doctors say, that donors have "good in blood." The difficult time we are going through now proves that “good” is the universal language of communication in any, even the most difficult situations. As part of the All-Russian Marathon #OstavaysyaDonorom in all blood service institutions, a set of anti-epidemiological measures is observed, including rules for the use of personal protective equipment, mask mode.
