The Donor Day was not an exception, its course was broadcast in the live mode. Temporary blood station was installed in the channel studio. And during the morning broadcast of “Big City Morning” the progress of donor campaign was demonstrated.
Alexey Sukhanov, the host of the morning show, also shared with the audience some interesting facts about blood donation. During the broadcast he was joined by Sofya Malyavina, Assistant Minister of Health and Social Development, spealing about the issues and the ongoing development of donor movement in Russia.
According to Natalia Sindeyeva, CEO of Channel DOZHD: “... our task is not promote noble impulse, but to do useful work and inspire our audience to become donors too. Blood is needed anytime, anywhere, any groups, in large quantities and it is never enough. Though, you can realize it only when there is a trouble. I think this is worth considering”.
Tatyana Shakhnes, Director of LG Electronics Public Relations, a member of the Coordinating Council for donation of the Public Chamber of Russia, comments on the action: “The Donor Day on the Dozhd Channel is a good opportunity to tell about the program of voluntary unpaid blood and its components donation to channel audience . It is particularly important that the younger generation that has grown up during a lack of blood and its components, is aware of the need of unpaid and regular donation. It's nice that the regular corporate Donor Day is held on the eve of the World Blood Donor Day”.
The World Blood Donor Day is observed every year, on 14 June. On this day in 1868, an Austrian physician Karl Landsteiner, who discovered the three groups of blood, was born. Thanks to this discovery secure donation was made possible.
Today, a guarantee of safe donation is repeated regular donors because their blood is safe for the recipients, as it does through the necessary quarantine. The main objective of the promotion Program of voluntary blood donation is increasing the number of regular donors in Russia. That's regular events, rather than individual campaigns contribute to the ptomotion of donor movement across the country.
