The objective of the campaign is to attract attention of automobile and motorcycle owners and all participants of road traffic to the problem of donorship, to remind of importance of regular blood donation and to help members of automobile and motorcycle communities to show their positive attitude.
About 200,000 road accidents occur every year on the Russia’s roads and very often the injured are needed blood transfusion. Every participant of road traffic is able to contribute and influence the situation by becoming a donor and participating in the Federal Campaign “Auto-MotoDonor”.
Since 2009 the All-Russian Campaign “Auto-MotoDonor” is held twice a year – in April and October. The period between the campaigns corresponds to time when road carpet allows safe motorcycling. In addition, each donor is necessary to visit a blood transfusion station in 6 months and undergo tests for the second time. The doctors of the Blood Service need to make sure that the previously donated blood and its components are safe before they are sent to hospitals.
The practice of “Auto-MotoDonor” campaign shows that members of non-commercial organizations of motorists and motorcycle owners are active people, who understand the importance of and are always ready to support such events, are willing to become donors and involve others in the donor movement.
Every year other participants of road traffic join the campaign – the traffic police actively support “Auto-MotoDonor” and organize the Blood Donor Days during a year.
For many automobile and motorcycle clubs the Blood Donor Days have become a regular practice: for example, in Tver Region a division of a motorcycle club “Night Wolves” holds the “Days of Auto-MotoDonor” in August. Activists from Kaliningrad are ahead of schedule this year and have already donated blood: 62 people became donors during the “Saturday of Auto-MotoDonor” on 3 October 2011. In Ufa about 300 people have showed their readiness to participate in the Campaign “Auto-MotoDonor” during less than a week’s time!

The number of voluntary donors in Russia grows every year and in near future our country will reach the level, when the need of donor blood will be satisfied completely. This is an objective to everyone – not to stay aside, be concerned. We hope that this year members of automobile and motorcycle communities will respond even more actively and will increase the number of participants in the campaign.
