It’s the second time the campaign “Day of donor full age” is taking place in Russia – the tradition dates back to 2010. The main participants will be students of higher and secondary professional education of 18 and older.
Adulthood and full age of a person is determined not only by an age but firstly by person’s maturity, ability to make responsible and independent decisions and readiness for well-considered actions. Free blood donation is a responsible action which proves a deliberate socially valuable position of a person.
During the campaign there will be brigades of mobile stations and complexes of blood stocking working in educational institutions, blood donor stations will host donor campaigns for students. Anyone will have a chance to join the donor movement and celebrate their becoming of age by a real adult and important action – the first blood donation.
As of today the campaign “Day of donor full age” has been successfully carried out in more than 20 Russian cities, it resulted in 350 liters of blood stocked.
Before 15 November students of 150 institutions of higher education from various regions will become donors. Students in Moscow will also join the campaign, namely “Day of donor full age” will be held in the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. The students who have recently turned 18 will take part in the campaign – they will be able to become donors for the first time. Those who have already donated blood within this campaign or on their own will donate blood repeatedly and become regular donors.
Students actively participate in the Promotion Program of free mass blood donation. They become donors and volunteers, they help blood transfusion stations to organize donor campaigns. And we thank them very much for this. We are holding the campaign “Donor full age” firstly, to once again attract attention to the problems of donorship, secondly, to support already established tradition.
