According to Head Doctor of the Regional Blood Center Yevgeny Maloy, the average age of blood donors in the Tomsk Region over the past 10 years has reduced due to high activity of students. If in 2000 the age of the most of donors in the region was 40, in 2012 it has been 25.
Tomsk is traditionally considered one of the leading educational centers in Russia. The city accommodates six state universities. Out of 500 thousand citizens 100 thousands are students. In all, in Tomsk about 15 thousand people became donors in 2011.
