45 people took part in the action (which is the maximum possible regarding the hospice capability), the president of VERA Fund Nyuta Federmesser also donated her blood. As a result, 14.85 liters of blood was collected.

"This is a totally unique historical event for us, which is another proof that a hospice is about life,"

said Nyuta Federmesser.

The donor action was organized in favour of patients under care of the "Gift of Life" Fund, children having oncohaematological diseases, patients of FSCC PHOI named after Dima Rogachev.

"It is very important for a lot of people to start donating their blood, to make sure that there are no contra-indications, and there is nothing to fear. After all, just stop being narrow-minded. The most important thing is that they would come to donate blood again. If someone does not feel like going somewhere far away alone, it can be done in a company going together,"

said Karina Salmanova, doctor of an outreach service of the first Moscow Hospice, who has been a donor for a long time.

More than 70% of children with leukemia can get back to living normal life. To do so they need, in addition to medications, blood transfusion. Currently, in August when a lot of people are out of the city on vacations and dachas, hospitals are short of donated blood. Federal Scientific and Clinical Centre of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology named after Dina Rogachev sponsored by the "Gift of Life" Fund is no exception.

"Blood is needed not "just some day" but right now. I work in the hospice and know too well what "it's urgent!" means,"

noted Zoya Avdueva, a hospice nurse also participating in the action.
