On May, 7, leading specialists of the Center conducted the first donor lessons for students of Moscow school №1981. During the event, students learned about the history of blood donation during the Great Patriotic War. After that they were able to familiarize themselves with the donor experience starting from the donor registry and ending with donor chair, visit the Express Lab where they learned about their blood groups.
She also added that by organizing such kind of events the Blood Service is able to convey the idea that the youth might become soon a new young generation of donors. During the tour through the Blood Center students also learned what happens to the donors' blood in the laboratory. They were shown where and how to store harvested blood components, how the cryobank – the strategic reserve of the components of rare groups of blood – works.
Since 2012, such educational activities for children of preschool and school age are regularly held in the Blood Center of FMBA of Russia.
