Little patients say "Thank you" to donors

It will be unique cards, because each of them will be created by children who are treated at hematological centers. The selfless assistance of donor blood components is vital and truly priceless for these patients. This is difficult to express in words. That is why children will draw. They will draw their dreams, happiness and understanding of the world.

According to statistics, every year about 5 thousand Russian children are faced with such a terrible disease like cancer. During the operation and reconstructive procedure after chemotherapy young patients are constantly required transfusions of blood components. Recovery of children depends on donor assistance.

“Action will allow each donor to really think about the problem and to fully experience the importance of the donation,” said Sofia Golosova, the Head Physician of the Blood Center of FMBA of Russia.

“Donors do not know who exactly gets their blood and who gets their help. Children from hematological centers are preparing by their own hands and presenting the cards to donors. This is a gesture of gratitude for granted aid, for the chance to save lives. This is a big thanks to all indifferent people for a small but very important step – blood donation,” she added.

Since 2008, a large-scale program of the Blood Service implemented by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Federal Biomedical Agency (FMBA of Russia) and FGBUZ Blood Center of FMBA of Russia. The program covers all regions of the Russian Federation.
