«We suggest to celebrate the Day of the donor on the first Saturday of December. As a rule, in the autumn-winter period, people are less active; they have no desire to do something else apart from preparation for the New Year holidays. During this period, the number of donors reduces sharply. At the same time, situations that require emergency transfusions can occur at any time. There is always the need for blood in hospitals in Moscow», – says Bulat Sahibgareev, the activist of Junior Chamber of Lublin district and one of the organizers of the project.
The project «Moscow donor» was launched June 1 on the Children's Day. Three mobile blood transfusion stations was functioning in the capital, where it was possible not only to donate blood, but also to get a dietitian advice, learn basic skills in first aid and find out more about donor movement. Approximately 250 participants attended the action. Collected blood will be sent to Moscow hospitals.
«Of course, modern science develops solutions, which can replace the blood, but even the best of them, in some situations, can’t replace human blood», – says Anastasia Podhvatilina, the future doctor and a trainee of the Moscow Government.
As a result of action, young Moscow activists have formed a donor community, whose members are ready to donate blood in case of emergency. Participants also put forward a proposal to set an art object, which will emphasize the importance of blood donation and the value of human life. The activists will bring up for the discussion its appearance and installation place.
